Description
Battelle, Pacific Northwest Division, Management & Operating Contractor of the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), is requesting information from prospective offers to provide: Data archive system with tape library, disk cache, and policy-based hierarchical storage management. System must be compatible with Linux/Unix and Windows clients, supporting at least CIFS, NFS, SCP, SFTP protocols and Kerberos and RSA SecurID authentication. Disk cache must be at least 1 petabyte, with options to grown in 100 terabyte increments. Tape library must include 8 LTO-4 tape drives and include 6,000 slots, with options to grow incrementally to 10,000 slots. System must scale to a minimum of 20 petabytes combined disk & tape and must be presented as a single mountable filesystem. Offerors must have a demonstrated track record provisioning and maintaining their proposed solution, which is configured as a combined disk/tape hsm archive greater than 20 petabytes in a single namespace. The Request for Proposal, when released, will require offerors provide references for sites where similar systems have been successfully deployed." Interested firms shall also provide information in the following areas as available: 1) A description of current experience, knowledge and capabilities directly applicable to the performance of the scope identified. 2) Brochures providing descriptions of equipment, maintenance and standard warranty, along with a current published commercial pricelist. This Request for Information (RFI) is part of a market research effort that will best address PNNL's needs. This RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Battelle does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or to otherwise pay for information received in response to this RFI.
