Description

RFI: Joint type / detail: Could you provide a joint detail whether these are: true expansion joints (e.g., ~ " asphalt fiber board, full pavement depth, sealant in the top 1 2") requiring full-depth filler removal, or construction/contraction joints (~ " wide, ?2" deep, backer rod + sealant)? And is the intent to remove the full-depth joint filler, or only reseal the top of the joint? What is the apron slab thickness and saw-cut depth drive the cost significantly, so a joint detail would let us bid it accurately? ANSWER: True expansion joint. The slab thickness is 15 a full depth cut is not required. Remove existing sealant and joint will be filled with backer rod and sealant. Photos of existing joint seal attached. Plan sheet: Is there a plan sheet or apron layout showing the crack-repair and joint locations? ANSWER: CE/Airfield Ops will escort contractors to location. Site logistics: Can the contractor draw water from an on-base hydrant to fill a water truck, and where may we stage a laydown area and a dumpster?
