This EMD unit shall leverage current AN/SPN-50(V) systems because of similarity within units and similar system structure, as well as consistent theory of operation developed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). This EMD unit is required to fit within the same footprint as the current AN/SPN-50(V) system and be 100 percent compatible with current interfaces to external systems. The AN/SPN-50(V) includes integration of complex contractor developed software and hardware in conjunction with Government cooperation using organically developed algorithms for target processing. This system is specialized for operation with the AN/SYY-1 Display system, involving characterization of the system in their operational environment to ensure ship requirements are met.
