Description

This is a new Task Order between the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Equipping program and Summit Exercises and Training, LLC., to obtain contract support services for MDDP. DHS procures, maintains and deploys MDDU to assist stakeholders in detecting CBRN threats. There are six MDDU (truck trailer) that contain detection equipment to include mobile detection systems, portable detection backpacks, handheld radio-isotope identification devices, and personal radiation detection devices. MDDUs are strategically positioned at DHS components throughout the United States. MDDU deployments are accompanied by technical support staff members to train personnel on the use of equipment, to help integrate these capabilities into existing operations, and provide guidance and recommendations as needed. Mobile Detection Deployment Units (MDDU) may be deployed in support of national special security events (NSSE), significant state and local special events, multi-agency training and exercise activities, and to augment steady-state surge operations focused on criminal smuggling pathways. MDDUs are a national radiological and nuclear (R/N) detection surge asset designed to augment and supplement existing stakeholders detection and reporting capabilities. Chemical and Biological detection equipment will be added to the MDDP in future years. This support is required to enable tactical units of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to perform counter-WMD missions to include capabilities of the chemical, biological and radiological, and nuclear threat space.
