Special Notice Special Notice Page 2 of 2 Special Notice *= Required Field Special Notice Page 1 of 2 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 6 intends to award a sole source award to The American Red Cross for blood and blood products for the Charles George VA Medical Center, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805 and W.G. (Bill) Hefner Salisbury VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Avenue, Salisbury, NC 28144. Because blood must be kept cool at regulated temperatures and be delivered in a timely manner, it is in the Government s best interest to award the contract to The American Red Cross to ensure that patients receive the optimum level of care for time-sensitive blood and blood products. The American Red Cross is best suited to provide blood and blood products to level 1a and 1b, serve as a reference lab to work up specimens that are beyond the scope of the medical centers, supply FDA approved blood & blood products, and provide at least three (3) routine scheduled delivery of blood products per week with the ability to order additional STAT blood products 24/7 in case of emergencies. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation documents are available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any business that believes it can provide blood and blood products may give written notice to Jo.Harris@va.gov by 10:00am EST on July 27, 2025. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirement. Interested and capable respondents are requested to provide the information below. All responses to this notice shall include: company name, address, point of contact, phone number, System for Award (SAMs) Unique Entity Id Number, manufacturer authorization letter, authorized dealer, authorized distributor, or authorized reseller documentation. Responses will be considered by the Government; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
