Description

AFRC/A4 coordinated a combined purchase agreement with Harrison Concepts for the acquisition of REX kits across multiple installations with combat airlift missions. AFRC then allocated funds to each installation to execute their own contract to procure these kits while tailoring the acquisition to their specific mission requirements. Under this broader AFRC program, this purchase will be made as a sole source acquisition to maintain the continuity of this specialized aircraft maintenance equipment across the command. Given the unique nature of this new and evolving concept of REX Kits, there was very little information available via open Internet searches for this specific product. While many companies make wheeled/mobile toolkits, these kits are specifically tailored to support combat aircraft during contingency operations. The most valuable market research information came from aircraft maintainers at other installation who are already using this equipment. As the concept of these REX Kits gains momentum and more installations begin acquiring them, it is likely that additional vendors will begin producing comparable products that meet the requirements of this unique aircraft support equipment. Ongoing market research in this area should help identify additional sources/vendors for future acquisitions.
