The Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO) administers the English for Heritage Language Speakers Program within its portfolio of National Security Education Program (NSEP) initiatives.The purpose of this requirement is to administer the English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) Program under the David L. Boren National Security Education Act of 1991, as amended, (NSEA) 50 U.S.C. 1901 et seq. The EHLS Program establishes and improves opportunities for U.S. citizens who are highly skilled native speakers of languages critical to national security and to develop professional level English skills.
