Description
The purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis for the FAA's decision to contract, in accordance with Section 3.2.2.4 of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS), brand name products detailed in this announcement for the 11-meter satellite antennas used in the Alaska Satellite Telecommunication Infrastructure (ASTI) system. The FAA intends to award a single purchase order for the Thomson Linear equipment listed below: (see part list in attachments) Part # 4751-01-00 / Thomson Linear 50-BSJ-U Quantity: 8 Gear Ratio: 10.66:1 First Shaft Option: SSE - Standard Shaft Ext. Pos:1 Second Shaft Option: SPC - Special Shaft Ext. Pos: 2 Base Mount: F- Flange Base Rod Config: T - STD Threaded End Travel: 71.50 The jackscrews being acquired with this purchase are needed to move the antennas in the Azimuth (east-west) and elevation (up-down) directions so the antennas can be pointed to the correct satellite in the sky. Thomson Linear is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the required jackscrews and is the only manufacturer capable of manufacturing the jackscrews to the specifications required without needing to have an existing operable jackscrew sent out as the template for a brand-new fabrication. This announcement is issued to advise interested parties of the FAA's intent to issue an award valued in excess of $350,000. If your firm does not agree with this brand name determination, please provide evidence of your firm's capability and experience in providing the supplies and services outlined herein and the FAA will evaluate by e-mail to the Contract Specialist, Leslie Bolton, no later than 3:00 P.M. (CST), August 3rd, 2026. Contact info: Contracting Officer: Gilbert Park - Gilbert.N.Park@faa.gov Contracting Specialist: Leslie Bolton - Leslie.c-crt.bolton@faa.gov
