Description

The Marine Design Center (MDC) of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued this Invitation for Bid (IFB) to acquire a new barge and integrate a Government furnished crane into the barge, resulting in a floating crane with heavy-lift capability. The completed vessel will be placed in service with the Detroit District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and will be used by the District in support of lock maintenance at the Soo Locks office. The principal dimensions of each barge shall be as follows: Length Overall (Molded): .................................................... 300 foot -0 inches Beam (Molded): ..................................................................... 74 feet -0 inches Hull Depth (Molded at Side):................................................. 14 feet -0 inches Hull Depth (Molded at CL):................................................... 14 feet -4 inches Draft (Full Load):...................................................................... 7 feet -0 inches Delivery of the finished barge shall be to the Soo Locks, Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. Due to the air draft of the vessel, delivery up the Mississippi River with the floating crane in a completed condition will not be possible. The floating crane will have to enter the Great Lakes via the St. Lawrence Seaway unless it is constructed/finalized on the Great Lakes. There will be liquidated damages associated with this procurement. Bid guarantee, payment, and performance bonding will be required. All amendments to the IFB will be posted to the Sam.gov website. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor the website in order to access the solicitation. Offerors are responsible for printing copies of the IFB and any amendments.
